| How do I remove the
vocals (lyrics) only from a song?
In FlexiMusic Wave Editor this can be done in two methods "Channel Mix" and
"Band Pass/Stop Filter". Filtering only words or
music is not an easy task, because after the words get mixed with the
frequency range of the instruments it is difficult to differentiate.
Human
voice has many frequencies and one of these is bound to be within the range
of one of the instruments in the track. Separating them is not an easy job. You
have to find by trial and error which are the frequency bands to stop and
use Band Pass/Stop Filter (Method 02).
Method 01:
Assuming that in the
master piece all the instruments are played in different
places and only the lyrics is played in the middle, lyrics will be equal on
left
and right, if you subtract the left from right only lyrics will be removed
and
other instrument volumes will be reduced a bit, then you get all the
instruments
without lyrics. If you subtract this output from the original you will get
the
music alone without lyrics. This can be done using "Channel Mix" under
Transform
menu in FlexiMusic Wave Editor.
1. Open a song in
FlexiMusic Wave Editor.
2. Choose Select > Select
All to Select the whole part.
3. Use the Channel Mix
(Menu > Transform > Channel Mix) or click the Channel Mix tool button.
4. In Channel Mix window
under the Source Audio choose Left-Right fro both. Click Ok.
5. Save the file using the
"Save As" command giving
the file a new name.
Note: Method 01
will work only if audio file is the master.
Method 02:
Band Pass filters block all the frequencies outside the specified range,
keeping only the frequencies within the range. Band stop filters does the
opposite. Band Pass/Stop Filter is combination of Band Pass filter and Band
Stop filter, You can choose frequency bands to Pass or Stop.
1. Open the original audio file.
2. Select a small region of
an audio to test.
3. Use the Band
Pass/Stop Filter (Menu > Effects > Band Pass/Stop Filter) or click the
Band Pass/Stop Filter tool button.
4. In Band Pass Stop
Filter window choose 32 bands.
5. You will see a bar in the bottom of the Band Pass Stop Filter
window, in that bar click under each band to test play one band alone.
Listen to that sound and decide whether you need that band or not. Note down
the bands that you decide to stop. Click Cancel.
6. Choose Select > Select
All to Select the whole part
you want to filter and use the Band Pass/Stop Filter again
7. Choose the appropriate
bands to pass/stop. Click Ok.
Note: With
Method 2 the vocal can be reduced to some extent, not 100%.
8. Save the file using the
"Save As" command giving
the file a new name.
Depending on the frequency that you're processing, the results will vary,
but they'll never be perfect. You can try to tweak the mix a bit with EQ,
but other than that, what you get is what you get. |
