How to make a multiple songs overlap one from another?

FlexiMusic Wave Editor will allows you to overlap songs, So that the next song will overlap the end of the current song by the selected portion. To combine four or more songs one after another to create your finished songs.

Let's assume you would like to combine two sound files drum.wav and piano.wav

1. Run the FlexiMusic Wave Editor.

2. Open both the files in FlexiMusic Wave Editor. Use the top tabs to switch between the files.

3. Check the format for both files, make it same if they are different using the format menu (Menu > File > Format). (Since you are going to write to CD required format is 44100Hz, 16bits, Stereo)

4. Switch to "piano.wav" window, Use Select All command to select the whole file, and copy the selected part using Copy Selected (Menu > Edit > Copy Selected).

5. With the piano sound in the Clipboard, switch to other window (drum.wav), Place the cursor on the position you want the joining to start (i.e. at the end of the drum file) and click on the waveform for making one point selection, then use the command Paste-Insert (Menu > Edit > Paste-Insert).

6. To create a smooth transition between the two songs use "Lap [Over Lap/Transition]" command, fading one section out and the next one in, while overlapping them.

  • Select a range covering 5 seconds at the end of drum.wav file and another 5 seconds at the start of piano.wav then apply the command Lap [Over Lap/Transition].
  • This will open a Lap (Cut and Overlap) dialogue box. In that you have to choose the Current Selection type as "Current Selection is both (cut in middle)" and Transition Style as "Smooth Transition (fade in and fade out)".

7. You can press the Play button to hear the result.

8. To save your combined file, it is safer to save the file using the "Save As" command giving the file a new name.
