How to free up system resources used by unknown programs.

Press and hold the "Ctrl" and "Alt" key and press "Delete" key to run the Task Manager to see which programs are running in your PC. There may be many programs running in the background. In the task manager you can click on one item and and kill that program. After you see the list of items running, you can uninstall those which you do not need.

If you see too many task bar icons at the bottom right corner, that also indicates the programs running, you can right click on each item and close.

In the Start menu, go to see Start > All Programs > Startup. In this you can see any programs that starts automatically. If you do not need them you can either uninstall those programs, or delete the shortcuts.

There may be other programs starting automatically. You can see the list in Registry.

1. Click Start > Run, type Regedit and click OK.
Note: Incorrect use of the Windows Registry Editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry.

2. Go to the entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run\ Under that you will find many entries for each program that runs automatically.

3. Delete those entries which is not necessary.
Note: Many may be necessary ones, do not delete any one with out knowing what it is.
