How to open or save MP3 files? How to convert Wav to Mp3?

To save or create MP3 files in FlexiMusic Wave Editor the LAME MP3 Encoder must be installed.

To Download and Install LAME:

1. Download a copy of the Lame file using one of the below links.
Download Link1: http://www.free-codecs.com/Lame_Encoder_download.htm Click on
"Download [ LAME MP3 Encoder 3.98 beta ... - Less stable ]" to download the free encoder. Download Link2: http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lame-bundle.php click the download link below the "LAME 3.98 beta ..."

2. Choose to Save instead of Run. When you click on the link the Browser will ask you whether to run or to save, you choose "Save". Save your download to an easy to remember folder on your computer.

3. Using "Windows Explorer" or "My Computer" go to the folder where you saved "lame3.98b3.zip" in your computer and open the zip file to extract, in that copy the lame.exe and lame_enc.dll file.

4. Then create a new folder "Lame" under program files (for eg., C:\Program Files\Lame\) and paste the two files (lame.exe and lame_enc.dll) into the Lame folder.

5. The first time you use the MP3 file in FlexiMusic Wave Editor, it will ask you for the path of an encoder, use the browse button to show this lame.exe file.

To Open MP3 File:

1. Run the FlexiMusic Wave Editor and open the MP3 file normally (read the below note for first time).

To Save/Convert to MP3 File:

1. Run the FlexiMusic Wave Editor and open the .Wav file.

2. To save in MP3 format, use File > Save As. Select the Mp3 files (*.mp3) type. Click Save.

3. This will show the Select Mp3 Compressing Parameters dialog box. Use the bit-rates of 128kbps or higher and set a stereo mode to Default.

Note: Usually if you install the encoders to its default locations (C:\Program Files\Lame\..), then the software will find it automatically. Otherwise when you try to open or save MP3 file for the first time FlexiMusic Wave Editor will ask for an encoder and you just need to show that once.
