How do I use my own beat
sample sound in FlexiMusic Composer?
Wav sound file can be used by
FlexiMusic Composer as an instrument sample. If you need to use MP3 or other
audio format
sound use an audio editing program like FlexiMusic Wave Editor to convert to Wav
files.
1. Run the FlexiMusic
Composer.
2. Open the "Select
Instrument Sound" window, Under the View menu, choose Instrument list or
Click the View Instrument list button (the drum icon) on the tool button.
This will open the Select Instrument Sound window.
3. Click "Add" button
(left hand side button is to add a group) to add a new group and type
"My Beat" (or any name) and Ok. Now you will see a My Beat (new) group added
at the bottom of the tree list.
4. Click "My Beat"
group on the left hand side tree. Now choose "Add" button (right hand side
button is to add an audio file under a group) and locate the audio file you wish
to use. (If you wish to add multiple files in one go, You keep adding files one
by one, Sensing this, The program will automatically ask you whether you want to
add multiple files in one go.)
5. Now you will see the list of
audio file in the My Beat group. Click on the audio file to test
play.
6. Before closing the "Select
Instrument Sound" window Click "Save Instrument List". It will save the
new collection list to the Default Collection.
Using your Beats on Melody:
An easiest way to create your
own music is, modifying existing sample song using your beats in its melody.
1. Open an example song
Sample01 that comes with composer. (e.g., C:\FlexiMusic
Composer\Samples\Sample01.FmCmp).
2. In Sequencer window click on "Edit Music Cycle", this will open the
Music Cycle window. In
that you will see Track type on the top. (Step Cycle, Bar Cycle and Single
File/Voice) as "Step cycle".
3. Below that you will see
Pattern tracks (Pat1, Pat2..,) On the first pattern (Pat1) click on the green
step and below you will see current step property box that shows this step's
sound property.
4. In the Current step property box click the "Choose" button.
This will open the "Select Instrument Sound" window.
5. In that you can choose your new group "My
Beat" on the left hand side and choose an audio file from that, Click Ok.
6. Then switch to next step, by clicking on the next green step button, and
use the choose button again to choose another my beat audio file for that step.
7. If you wish to choose one single beat sound for the whole pattern, you
can use the option "Use this file for all Steps" in the upper right corner of the "Select Instrument
Sound" window.
8. Then you can test play the pattern, by using the small play button shown
on the small pattern track. Then you can test play the whole cycle by using
the play button in the bottom of the Music cycle window.
9. Like this you can modify
the whole track.
10. Click on the "Save As"
button or ( File > Save As). Type the filename and save the file.
