It can
compresses standard wave (*.Wav) file and save it to FlexiMusic Zipper
format file (*.FmZip), and decompresses/unzips the FlexiMusic Zipper
format file (*.FmZip) and write back wave file (*.Wav).
You can
set 3 parameters to control the compression, to choose between quality and
output size.
General Deviation: (1 ~ 16)
High Frequency Deviation: (1 ~ 16)
High Frequency Trim: (0 ~ 5)
The
compression achieved is up to 1 ~ 3 % for low frequency sound and 8 ~ 20 %
for high frequency sounds. Please see the sample wave files attached with
the program under it's samples directory. This can do get the best
compression ratio for low frequency sound with out loosing quality.
If you
set the compression variation to minimum (1,1,0) it can reproduce
professional quality sound with out any loose with 25% size compression.
That is useful for musicians to share samples between them.
It
supports Variable Compression Parameter to allow you to save quality at
some place and save space (size) at other place in the same song. Variable
Compression Parameter is supported in Professional mode. You can change
between "Lite" and "Professional" mode using menu. For example if a song
has a low frequency wave at many places use the setting to compress it to
2~3% and at some area there is a hi frequency wave there set it to
compress to 15% then over all you would achieve 10% with out quality loss.
You can
view the output waveform picture drawn on the background of the original
waveform picture. You can zoom and pan to see all the area of the song.
You can also open a file reproduced by other compressing utility to
compare.
The
compressing technique is not like other audio compressing tools. It first
picks up the shape information of the original waveform while compressing
and reconstructs the waveform while unzipping. The advantages are:
Absolutely no loose for low frequency sound, what we loose is shape lose
that creates minor side effect noise.
In high
quality compression you can almost hear the original.
In lower
quality (higher compression) absolutely no loss in lower frequency band
sounds. And the higher frequency sound is reconstructed with slightly
lower frequency sound, so when you loose the sound you don’t loose the
music. Additionally to compensate this there is a Variable Compression
Parameter support that can save the high frequency sound as well where
ever needed with out loosing overall compression ratio.
The side
effect noise produced is rhythmic musical noise that goes together the
musical tunes, so in the end the audience will also enjoy hearing the
noise rhythm it created with the music.
Micro-synchronization of all frequency bands same as the original. You can
see the picture to compare the real shape. Shape wise you can see the
result same or similar to the original waveform (unlike other picking up
frequency information and play each frequency separately). In the modern
computer synthesized music the high frequency and low frequency sound are
produced as one shape (changing frequency, non sine-wave shapes etc.) to
give special effect where micro-synchronization is necessary.
